Planning an EV Charger Installation at Home in Metro Atlanta
The charger is only one part of a home charging project. Before choosing an installation date, it helps to talk through where you park, where the electrical panel is, and what equipment you plan to use. Here is how to prepare a useful request for an EV charger installation in Metro Atlanta.
Start with the vehicle and charger
Tell your electrician the vehicle model and whether you already own a charger. If you have purchased one, send its exact model number or product link rather than only the brand. Also mention whether the installation is at a house, townhouse, or another type of property.
For a Tesla Wall Connector, installation includes setup as well as the physical electrical work. Tesla describes commissioning, Wi-Fi connection, and registration as parts of getting the unit ready for use. Ask what setup and testing the proposed scope includes.
Show where the car will charge
Take a photo of the parking spot and mark the preferred charger location. Think about how you normally park and where the charging cable will run when connected. If the garage is shared or used for storage, show the surrounding space too.
Photos from the parking spot toward the panel can help explain the route. You do not need to measure every turn. An approximate distance and a clear overview are a useful starting point before a site visit.
Discuss the panel and the wiring route
Send a photo of the outside of the panel and its directory if they are accessible. Leave covers in place. Tell us about other planned additions, such as new appliances or a workshop, so they can be considered when reviewing the project.
Ask whether the proposed wiring will be surface-mounted or routed inside finished walls. If the route needs openings, clarify who will handle patching and painting. These details should be discussed before work begins.
Ask for an installation scope you can compare
A useful estimate identifies the charger location, proposed electrical work, materials, setup, and any exclusions. Ask how permit or inspection requirements will be handled for your address and whether those costs are included.
For the first conversation, send the charger details, your city, panel photos, and the preferred parking location. Forge Electric can then discuss the next step rather than guessing from a charger photo alone.
